The foundation of any successful community is built on the nurturing of its children, sustained by the strength of its families, improved by the care of its seniors and perpetuated by collaborative efforts in advancement of common goals.  In realization of these ends, the Livingston County YMCA has been conceived and is being brought to life by an expanding local volunteer base working in cooperation with an existing YMCA Association to turn a dream into reality. 

The YMCA movement is something different and special.  The YMCA will be particularly relevant in Livingston County because it can fill a void in the community.  The YMCA will put Christian principles into practice, welcome and support children and families and help build the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.  The Livingston County YMCA will be available to everyone: people of all ages, races, religions, incomes and abilities.  Through contemporary programs, dynamic services, individual commitment and collective effort, the YMCA will help build community.

The Livingston County YMCA is being conceived as a resource to benefit the entire community. By offering programs, access and leadership to other service providers, civic groups and community members, the YMCA will expand its reach and maximize available resources.  With a state of the art facility, dedicated volunteers, professional staff and timeless mission the YMCA will quickly become an integral part of Livingston County life and a cornerstone upon which the individuals, families and the community can build.

Most importantly, the Livingston County YMCA and the benefits it brings will be available to all people.  As an inclusive organization the YMCA does not deny any individual services because of their inability to pay.  Towards this end the Livingston County YMCA will work to be an organization worthy of charitable contributions and volunteer efforts.  The YMCA will strive to create an annual support campaign to assist those with limited resources afford YMCA programs as well as establish an endowment fund to assure that YMCA services and facilities will be available to those who live, work and study in Livingston County for generations to come.

It is the charge of the Livingston County YMCA’s Steering Committee and the mission of the YMCA to promote time honored values and improve the quality of life by involving individuals and families in programs that develop spirit, mind and body.  With your help and involvement, the Livingston County YMCA can be the foundation upon which together we build a better future.
