Safe, Reliable and Fun Programming for your School Age Child.
Your child's day doesn't end when the school bell rings - at the Genesee/Wyoming YMCA we offer a creative and hands-on curriculum making us a unique child care provider that sets us apart from others.
QUALITY PROGRAMMING
At the Genesee/Wyoming YMCA we license our School Age Child Care (SACC) programs through New York State's Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). Licensing our SACC programs through NYS ensures that the following standards are met:
- Parent Invovement Parents are the key to quality child care and have the right to visit the program at any time to observe or visit their child.
- Adult-Child Ratios Strict regulations are used to assure that your child is properly supervised and receives the attention they deserve.
- Training & Experience All staff are required to have previous child care experience and must receive ongoing training in 9 topic areas including nutrition, child abuse prevention adn program development.
- Regulation & Oversight All programs regulated by NYS must be registered or licensed. When you stop in to any of our programs our license is posted for your viewing.
- Inspections Licensed child care programs must be inspected at least once before renewal (every 2 years). 50% of all registered programs are inspected once a year.
- Complaints The NYS OCFS maintains a statewide, toll free Child Care Complaint Line at 1-800-732-5207. Anyone can file a complaint for possible regulatory violations.
The YMCA has been long standing as the nation's largest child care provider. As part of the YMCA Mission to "Build Strong Kids, Strong Families and Strong Communities", we incorporate Character Development into our programs by following the YMCA's four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
FUN ACTIVITIES
The activities included in our SACC programs encourage personal growth for every child enrolled. Our staff work with the children to develop programming that adheres to their interests. Our daily routine focuses on the following key areas:
- Arts & Crafts
- Character Development
- Health, Wellness & Fitness
- Homework Help
- Community Service
- Healthy Snacks
We encourage the children in our SACC programs to develop through hands-on learning experiences. We provide opportunities for children to work in large groups of various ages, as well as small groups of similar ages. Our goal is to help build strong children who are accepting of all types of people, which in turn helps build strong families and strong communities.
"While we try to teach our children all about life,
our children teach us what life is all about."
